You will have seen from the latest rides list that the annual Bike Week
Barbecue organised by Northampton CTC is being held on Tuesday 19th
June, from 7.30pm.

This year John and Rosemary Dunkley have kindly offered their garden in
Nether Heyford as a venue, and the food will be better than ever
including burgers and sausages from a local butcher, various vegetarian
alternatives, fresh salads and home made desserts all included in the
ticket price of £5 per person. A barrel of real ale, wine and soft
drinks will also be available - not having a license we can't charge
for these but will gladly receive donations.

All are welcome so please invite family and friends to meet the rest of
the club.

If you would like to come along, please book tickets by phoning John
Dunkley on 01327 342588 or myself on 07791 953143.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Saturday June 9th
Meet Delapre Park London Road entrance.

1.30pm for a 2pm start.

The theme is Earth, Wind, Fire and Water which might give ideas for bike
decoration.

Other than decorated bikes it would be good to get a variety of bikes at the
start of the parade from conventional, small wheel, recumbants to trikes
and tandems. So if you have any of these and would be willing to ride in the
parade or lend a bike to somebody please let me know.

We had a good turn out last year on a hot, sunny day. Lets hope the weather
is as good this year.

Please let me know if you plan to be there. Friends and colleagues welcome
to join us not just CTC members.

Thanks
Brian Tunbridge

This Sunday's CTC ride to Catthorpe near Rugby - the first of summertime - will be a brisk 60-miler (or 100k) over a somewhat hilly route, with an optional easier version.
It starts at the Brampton Valley Way at 9.30 am and will head for Lt. Brington, Flore and Weedon, where there is an optional short cut to Emily's Tearooms at the Heart of the Shires. The main route goes via Everdon to the bracing Newnham Hill (grown men have been known to walk) and Borough Hill to join the others at Heart of the Shires (TEASTOP). We then proceed to the outskirts of Rugby and Clifton upon Dunsmore to Catthorpe (LUNCH at Manor Farm Cafe, 38 miles). After lunch there is a flattish section before climbing to the "peak of Northants" at Cold Ashby. We return over a few bumps (but mainly downhill) via Teeton and Holdenby (c. 60 miles total back to BVW).
The current weather forecast is "sunny and breezy" and about 10 degrees max .
I hope you will be able to join us. Please note the start time of 9.30 am.

This will be 20 -25 miles along the Nene valley and up towards Broughton. We will stop near the end for tea or a drink at either Sywell or Moulton. There will be a number of new riders including some ladies on Saturday so ... time to get that bike out if you haven't done so this already year.

Please bring lights to been seen rather than to see by. i.e. leds would be fine. Although we will not finish in the dark it can be it can be poor light on a cloudy day especially if you stay for a drink.
